The Open University of Catalonia (UOC) has launched a call to award PhD scholarships in several areas of research. One of these is Conceptual Metaphor and Mental Health under the supervision of Drs. Marta Coll-Florit and Salvador Climent.

The central aim of this research will be to analyze texts produced by individuals affected by mental disorders in the web (blogs, social networks) in the light of the Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT). Other topics at the crossroads of CMT and the Information and Knowledge Society can also be proposed by those applying to the position.

This area of research is associated to the “Information and Knowledge Society Doctoral Programme” and more specifically to the research line “Culture, Society and Language”. It is supported by the “Interuniversity Research Group in Linguistic Applications (GRIAL)" –officially recognised as a consolidated research group by the Government of Catalonia (2014).

Both distance and full-time face-to-face positions are offered but only the latter are eligible for scholarships –on a competitive basis. The grants normally cover three years, but in some cases they can be extended to a fourth year of postdoctoral work. Candidates who are not citizens of English-speaking countries are required to accredit their level of English as equal to or higher than level B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

DEADLINE: Call is open and closes on 11 February 2018. The application requires several documents to be submitted. Make sure you prepare your application in advance.
