Doctora en Filologia Catalana (2004) per la Universitat de Barcelona amb la tesi doctoral Els contactes consonàntics en balear. Descripció i anàlisi, la qual va quedar finalista (amb menció honorífica) del Premi Claustre de Doctors de la Universitat de Barcelona a tesis doctorals (edició 2006). Les tasques d’investigació que he dut a terme se centren en la fonologia, la morfofonologia, la variació lingüística i la lingüística teòrica, i les tasques de docència se centren en les mateixes àrees, i també en l’ensenyament de la normativa del català, i l’anàlisi i la redacció de textos escrits en català.

Actualment, soc catedràtica d’universitat al Departament de Filologia Catalana i Lingüística General de la Universitat de Barcelona, després d’un període en què hi he estat professora agregada (2015-2025) i professora titular interina (2012-2015). Durant el període 2008-2010, vaig ser beneficiària d’un contracte d’investigació Juan de la Cierva per dur a terme un projecte de recerca sobre la fonologia de les llengües romàniques, adscrit al projecte Microvariació: trets sintàctics i morfofonològics (MICINN-UAB; IP: Carme Picallo). També vaig exercir de professora associada al Departament de Filologia Catalana de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2004-2007). I vaig ser becària FPI (1999FI 00478) al Departament de Filologia Catalana de la Universitat de Barcelona, del qual també vaig ser professora associada (2002-2006; 2011-2012).

Tinc 3 trams de recerca consecutius (AQU: 2004-2009; 2010-2015; 2016-2021) i 4 quinquennis de docència (2001-2006; 2006-2012; 2012-2017; 2017-2022). El 2007 vaig superar un concurs públic (oposicions) pel qual vaig obtenir l’Habilitación Nacional para el Cuerpo de Profesores Titulares de Universidad (área de conocimiento de Filología Catalana), per concórrer a concursos d'accés a cossos docents universitaris. Des del 2023, tinc l’acreditació de recerca avançada; des del 2008, l’acreditació de recerca, i, des del 2005, les acreditacions de professora lectora i col·laboradora.

Soc membre, des del 1999, del grup de recerca consolidat Grup d’Estudi de la Variació (GEV) (Generalitat de Catalunya) (https://www.ub.edu/GEV), actualment coordinat per Lluís Payrató (Universitat de Barcelona), i del Grup d’Estudi de la Variació Dialectal (GEVaD) (https://stel.ub.edu/gevad/), coordinat per Maria-Rosa Lloret (Universitat de Barcelona), el qual ha acollit diferents projectes de recerca. Del 2008 al 2011, també vaig formar part de diferents projectes i grups de recerca coordinats des de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, i, des del 2008, he format part o he estat col·laboradora externa del Centre de Lingüística Teòrica (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).

He format part de 31 projectes de recerca competitius, en 5 dels quals com a IP, i en tots amb una contribució científica significativa i amb una gran implicació en la gestió. Actualment, soc investigadora principal (IP1), juntament amb Violeta Martínez-Paricio (Universitat de València), del projecte La interacción entre la fonología y los componentes fonético y morfosintáctico: retos actuales para el estudio de la variación lingüística (PID2023-150846NB-C31, MICINN), que forma part del projecte coordinat UB-UAB-UB La gramática y sus interfaces: arquitectura, variación y aplicaciones (GIAVA, 2024-2028, coordinació UB; IP1: Pons-Moll). I juntament amb Maria-Rosa Lloret, he estat investigadora principal (IP1) del projecte La fonología nativa y no nativa: análisis y creación de recursos digitales (PID2020-113971GB-C21, MICINN), que forma part del projecte coordinat UB-UAB La fonología nativa y no nativa: efectos de contacto lingüístico e interacción con otros componentes de les gramática (FONATYLING, 2021-2024, coordinació UB).

També he estat beneficiària d’una beca Leonardo a Investigadores y Creadores Culturales 2021 per dur a terme el projecte d’investigació La adaptación fonológica y flexiva de préstamos en catalán y en español. Creación de un corpus digital y análisis mediante modelos basados en restricciones, el qual està en fase de desenvolupament. Juntament amb Josefina Carrera-Sabaté (Universitat de Barcelona), soc directora del projecte Els sons del català, que té un vessant docent (GenCat-UB-UAB-UdL-URV; 2008 MQD00189, IP: Joan Solà; 2010 MQD00193, IP: Clàudia Pons-Moll) i un vessant de recerca. El projecte va ser reconegut mitjançant el programa RecerCAIXA (RecerCaixa 2011; IP: Clàudia Pons-Moll).

Soc autora de més de 80 publicacions, la majoria en revistes indexades o en volums internacionals especialitzats, amb una distribució equilibrada entre les publicacions d’autoria única (més de 40) i les publicacions en coautoria (prop de 40). He publicat els resultats de la meva recerca en diverses revistes internacionals i nacionals de prestigi (Linguistics, Linguistic Inquiry, Journal of Linguistics, Phonology, Probus, Catalan Journal of Linguistics, Acta Linguistica Hungarica; Caplletra, Estudis Romànics, Llengua & Literatura, Zeitschrift für Katalanistik, Círculo de Lingüística Aplicada a la Comunicación, Els Marges, etc.). També he publicat en diversos volums especialitzats, com ara Prosodies (De Gruyter Mouton, 2005), Romance languages and linguistic theory 2003 (Benjamins, 2004), Romance languages and linguistic theory 2009 (Benjamins, 2011), Romance languages and linguistic theory 2010 (Benjamins, 2012), Romance languages and linguistic theory 2018 (Benjamins, 2021), Romance phonetics and phonology (Oxford University Press, 2019), en actes de congressos rellevants (Proceedings of NELS-40, 2013), i, en nombroses ocasions (més de 70), he presentat els resultats de la meva recerca en congressos amb processos de selecció molt competitius (NELS, GLOW, mfm, LSRL, OCP, CUNY Phonology Forum, AMP, Going Romance, North American Phonology Conference, International Morphology Meeting, LabPhon, etc.).

He publicat el llibre La teoria de l’optimitat. Una introducció aplicada al català de les Illes Balears (PAM-IME, 2007), i m’he encarregat, juntament amb Maria-Rosa Lloret i Josefina Carrera-Sabaté, de l’edició de diversos volums miscel·lanis sobre aspectes de la gramàtica del català. També he col·laborat en la revisió i la compleció de les parts de fonètica i fonologia de la Gramàtica de la llengua catalana (2016) de l’Institut d’Estudis Catalans (dir. [Joan Solà]; Manuel Pérez Saldanya; Gemma Rigau). Els darrers cinc anys m’he encarregat de la coedició (juntament amb Francesc Torres-Tamarit (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) i Maria del Mar Vanrell (Universitat de les Illes Balears)) del manual La fonologia del català (Tirant lo Blanch), en el qual participen 33 especialistes en fonètica i fonologia catalanes i el qual està en procés d’elaboració. Més recentment, també m'he encarregat de l’edició, juntament amb amb Antonio Fábregas (Norwegian University of Science and Technology-Trondheim), Laia Mayol (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) i Yanina Prystauka (University of Bergen), del volum The Cambridge Handbook of Linguistic Interfaces (Cambridge University Press), en el qual també tinc un capítol en col·laboració amb Emily Elfner (York University).

He col·laborat com a revisora anònima per a les revistes Phonology, Probus, Natural Language and Linguistic Theory, Glossa, Journal of Portuguese Linguistics, Language Sciences, Linguistics, Els Marges, Catalan Journal of Linguistics, Poznan Studies in Contemporary Linguistics, Borealis, entre moltes d’altres, i per a diferents volums monogràfics (per exemple, Romance Phonetics and Phonology, De Gruyter). Soc revisora ordinària per als congressos OCP, AMP, GLOW, Going Romance, LabPhon, entre d’altres. M’he encarregat, també, de la gestió de nombroses activitats d’R+D+I, inclosos molts congressos i workshops de caràcter internacional.

He estat convidada a impartir xerrades, seminaris i classes sobre fonologia teòrica en més de 30 ocasions, la majoria internacionals: per exemple, a la Universität Freiburg, a la University of Massachusetts Amherst, a la University College London, a la University of Manchester, a la Washington University in Saint Louis, o a la Universidad de Buenos Aires, on he impartit classes i seminaris sobre teoria de l’optimitat, representacions subjacents, estructura sil·làbica i sonicitat, i sobre models fonològics basats en restriccions aplicats a les llengües romàniques. He assistit a dues escoles d’estiu organitzades per la LSA (estiu del 1999: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaigne; estiu del 2005: Massachusetts Institute of Technology / Harvard University), i, més recentment, al CreteLing 2019 (estiu del 2019: University of Crete).

He realitzat una estada de recerca com a investigadora visitant (visiting scholar) al Departament of Linguistics de la University of Massachusetts Amherst (gener-maig 2010), amb una beca José Castillejo (Estancias de movilidad en el extranjero para jóvenes doctores; ref. JC2009-00277), sota la tutela de John McCarthy (University of Massachusetts Amherst). I una altra de més recent (juliol del 2024) al Linguistics Department de la University of British Columbia, sota la tutela d’Anne-Michelle Tessier, gràcies a una llicència de recerca (sabàtic) concedida per la Universitat de Barcelona.

Els darrers anys, m’he involucrat en la formació d’un bon nombre d’estudiants, amb diversos treballs de final de grau i treballs de final de màster tutoritzats. Actualment, estic (co-)dirigint tres tesis doctorals, una de finalitzada, una en curs i una altra tot just començada. He avalat la prof. Anna Pineda, primer amb ajut María Zambrano, i després, amb una RyC, al Departament de Filologia Catalana i Lingüística General de la Universitat de Barcelona.

Durant el període 2001-2008, em vaig encarregar de col·laborar en la gestió del grup de recerca Grup d’Estudi de la Variació i de la xarxa temàtica La Variació Lingüística (coordinats per Joaquim Viaplana). M’he encarregat, també, de l’organització d’activitats R+D+I en múltiples ocasions, amb obtenció de finançament per mitjà de convocatòries competitives (ARCS-Gencat, Accions Complementàries-MICINN, etc., de les quals he estat IP).

Des de la tardor del 2021, soc coordinadora de la línia Estudis Avançats en Lingüística i Literatura Catalanes (del programa de doctorat Estudis Lingüístics, Literaris i Culturals) i coordinadora UB del màster interuniversitari d’Estudis Avançats de Llengua i Literatura Catalanes (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona/Universitat de Barcelona).

I obtained my PhD in Catalan Philology in 2004 from the University of Barcelona with the doctoral dissertation Els contactes consonàntics en balear. Descripció i anàlisi, which was shortlisted (with an honorary mention) for the Claustre de Doctors Award for doctoral dissertations at the University of Barcelona (2006 edition). My research activities focus on phonology, morphophonology, linguistic variation, and theoretical linguistics. My teaching activities concentrate on the same areas, as well as on the teaching of Catalan normative grammar and on the analysis and writing of texts in Catalan.

I am currently Full Professor in the Department of Catalan Philology and General Linguistics at the University of Barcelona, following a period as Associate Professor (2015-2025) and Interim Senior Lecturer (2012-2015). Between 2008 and 2010, I held a Juan de la Cierva research contract to carry out a research project on the phonology of Romance languages, within the project Microvariation: Syntactic and Morphophonological Features (MICINN-UAB; PI: Carme Picallo). I also served as Associate Lecturer in the Department of Catalan Philology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2004-2007). In addition, I was an FPI doctoral fellow (1999FI 00478) in the Department of Catalan Philology at the University of Barcelona, where I also worked as an Associate Lecturer (2002-2006; 2011-2012).

I have been awarded three consecutive six-year research periods (trams de recerca) (AQU: 2004-2009; 2010-2015; 2016-2021) and four five-year teaching periods (quinquennis) (2001-2006; 2006-2012; 2012-2017; 2017-2022). In 2007, I passed a national competitive examination (oposiciones) and obtained the National Habilitation for the Corps of University Senior Lecturers (Habilitación Nacional para el Cuerpo de Profesores Titulares de Universidad) in the field of Catalan Philology, which qualifies holders to compete for permanent university teaching positions. Since 2023, I have held the Advanced Research Accreditation; since 2008, the Research Accreditation; and since 2005, the accreditations as professora lectora and professora col·laboradora.

Since 1999, I have been a member of the consolidated research group Grup d’Estudi de la Variació (GEV) (Government of Catalonia) (https://www.ub.edu/GEV), currently coordinated by Lluís Payrató (University of Barcelona), and of the Grup d’Estudi de la Variació Dialectal (GEVaD) (https://stel.ub.edu/gevad/en), coordinated by Maria-Rosa Lloret (University of Barcelona), which has hosted several research projects. From 2008 to 2011, I also participated in various research projects and groups coordinated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and since 2008 I have been a member or external collaborator of the Centre for Theoretical Linguistics (Autonomous University of Barcelona).

I have participated in 31 competitive research projects, acting as Principal Investigator (PI) in five of them, and in all cases making a significant scientific contribution and being deeply involved in project management. I am currently Principal Investigator (PI1), together with Violeta Martínez-Paricio (University of Valencia), of the project The interaction between phonology and the phonetic and morphosyntactic components: current challenges for the study of linguistic variation (PID2023-150846NB-C31, MICINN), which is part of the coordinated project Grammar and its interfaces: architecture, variation, and applications (GIAVA, 2024-2028; coordinated by UB). Together with Maria-Rosa Lloret, I was also Principal Investigator (PI1) of the project Native and non-native phonology: analysis and creation of digital resources (PID2020-113971GB-C21, MICINN), part of the coordinated project Native and non-native phonology: effects of language contact and interaction with other components of grammar (FONATYLING, 2021-2024; coordinated by UB).

I was also awarded a Leonardo Grant for Researchers and Cultural Creators (2021) to carry out the research project Phonological and inflectional adaptation of loanwords in Catalan and Spanish: creation of a digital corpus and analysis using constraint-based models, which is currently under development. Together with Josefina Carrera-Sabaté (University of Barcelona), I am co-director of the project Els sons del català (“The Sounds of Catalan”), which includes both a teaching component (GenCat-UB–UAB–UdL–URV; 2008 MQD00189, PI: Joan Solà; 2010 MQD00193, PI: Clàudia Pons-Moll) and a research component. This project was recognized through the RecerCAIXA programme (RecerCaixa 2011; PI: Clàudia Pons-Moll).

I am a regular reviewer for conferences such as OCP, AMP, GLOW, Going Romance, and LabPhon. I have also been responsible for the organization and management of numerous R&D&I activities, including many international conferences and workshops.

I have been invited to give talks, seminars, and classes on theoretical phonology on more than 30 occasions, mostly internationally, including at the University of Freiburg, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the University College London, the University of Manchester, the Washington University in St. Louis, and the University of Buenos Aires. My teaching has covered topics such as Optimality Theory, underlying representations, syllable structure and sonority, and constraint-based phonological models applied to Romance languages. I attended two LSA Summer Institutes (1999: University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign; 2005: Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Harvard University) and, more recently, CreteLing 2019 (University of Crete).

I carried out a research stay as a visiting scholar at the Department of Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (January–May 2010) with a José Castillejo mobility grant (ref. JC2009-00277), under the supervision of John McCarthy. More recently (July 2024), I completed a research stay at the Department of Linguistics at the University of British Columbia, under the supervision of Anne-Michelle Tessier, thanks to a research leave (sabbatical) granted by the University of Barcelona.

In recent years, I have been actively involved in the supervision of a large number of undergraduate and master’s theses. I am currently (co-)supervising three doctoral dissertations: one completed, one in progress, and one recently started. I supported Prof. Anna Pineda first through a María Zambrano fellowship and subsequently through a Ramón y Cajal position in the Department of Catalan Philology and General Linguistics at the University of Barcelona.

Between 2001 and 2008, I collaborated in the management of the research group Grup d’Estudi de la Variació and the thematic network La Variació Lingüística, coordinated by Joaquim Viaplana. I have also organized R&D&I activities on numerous occasions, securing funding through competitive calls (ARCS-Government of Catalonia, MICINN Complementary Actions, etc.), several of which I coordinated as Principal Investigator.

Since autumn 2021, I have been coordinator of the Estudis Avançats en Lingüística i Literatura Catalanes track within the PhD programme Estudis Lingüístics, Literaris i Culturals, and UB coordinator of the interuniversity Master’s programme Estudis Avançats de Llengua i Literatura Catalanes (Autonomous University of Barcelona/University of Barcelona).
